Shenanigans

"Chung, don't you have some programs to code?"
"I'm going to restart them all over the weekend"
"Restart? But you never started them..."

It's Friday, and like all Fridays, today was the day for a total abandonment of stress and goofing off with the gang.

After STFU counted down the nanoseconds of the day, the entire gang set about wandering around the city until Ryerson opens for basketball.

The first course of action was, as expected with Chung in the group, to go eat. Dragging along a bunch of other random guys, we raided the food court.

The only real surprising thing to happen this time was that Chung did not buy half the food. Since Fred was not here this time, there was no ketchup projectiles to deal with, and the pig out ended uneventfully. (Note: For those unfamiliar, there was a particular incident in the past where Fred blasted ketchup out of his mouth, into STFU's face)

3 hours left to burn; we were bored.

What's a bunch of nerds to do? Go to the library of course.
And book the piano room.

Unfortunately, the piano room was still occupied when we got there, so a chess board was checked out and me and Chung engaged ourselves in an epic duel of the minds.

I went into this game fully expecting to lose, since the general trend when me and chess are combined with any other individual is that I tend to get ego-raped with losses.

I'm not sure what's going on here but apparently I'm winning.

So after randomly moving some pieces, I won and Chung was not amused by my epic lucking out.

When the game ended, me and Chung realized that STFU and Jack had already left for the piano room, so Chung cleared the board while I gloated about my victory, and then it was off to the piano.

When we got into the piano room, and the first thing I saw was the sheet music for Maple Leaf Rag.

Basically, it ended up with me attempting to play the Maple Leaf Rag (read: failing) while everyone else hit random keys on the piano. (It's nice that we were not perma-banned from the library despite the incredible noise this created).

Jack proceeded to play the piano and make everyone feel like a musical failure, then we left the library to do other stuff.

The time for basketball was rapidly approaching, and to prepare, we decided to go get a basketball. More precisely, Chung went to get a basketball at his house while the rest of us waited.

Now you know how when you put your hands together and blow into it, you can make really loud noises? Jack can do that and me and STFU tried to emulate while Chung was gone. This resulted in a lot of noise occurring in the apartment complex. Once again, it was nice how we did not get kicked out.

This sounded like a high pitch screech

This sounded like air rushing through

All ready for basketball now, we headed off to Ryerson.

But our plans for basketball were to soon be delayed, as we were approached by the artist formerly known as Chung.

"Screw the rules, I have a green shirt"
He now goes by the name MC Chungion, and he's got a new album coming out next week, make sure to buy it. (or pirate it; actually yes, pirate the shit out of it)

It's called "Me and All My Beer Shirts Part I"
MC Chungion then went to hang with his bitches; leaving us bros for his hoes. (Breaking Article 1 of the bro code).

We then went for basketball; got into a ethnic warfare match-up between the Asians and the Caucasians.
Score wasn't really kept, but I'm going to assume the winner of the match-up was the Asians (no bias there at all).

There is nothing like a Friday to make you really appreciate and enjoy life.

My Lover, My Confession.

Starcraft. Programming. Fuck.

I joke. As if I'll turn into TomTom.

Sorry I skipped another day of posting. (: No worries because I'm back! I truly appologize for TomTom's profanity and the terrifying subjects he spoke of. No actually, they're not terrifying...they're just unbelievably -facepalm-

Anyways, enough about TomTom, I think I've made fun of him enough today, so we'll talk about something else. What have I been up to you may ask? Well my dearies, I've been busy with my lover. Want to know who he is? Here's a picture of him.

No worries my dearies. I have more to write as I have been receiving complaint that I have too many pictures and too little text. Well you know what? Screw the haters. -cough- STFU. So instead of just showering everyone with awesometastic pictures, I shall also throw a bunch of random words at you. In case you haven't noticed yet, I tend to jump from topic to topic in my posts, but THAT'S OKAY.

Since I can't think of a specific topic I want to write about, I'm just going to do an All about Nina post.

Rage Essence

Playing Starcraft can be very hazardous to your health.

I'm not talking about the life shortening effects of sitting on your ass all day, I'm talking about the very real dangers that arises when rage occurs.

Consider the following scenario.

A group is playing Starcraft via LAN. Team A is roflstomping Team B.

A player from team A then decides to inform team B of the copious amounts of fail that has just been delivered to them by calling the entirety of team B a derogatory term that is normally reserved for use at homosexuals; this message was of course, preceded with a sexually ambiguous "suck it."

Normally, this is when a round of trash talking would ensue, with volleys of increasingly creative and profane insults being hurled back and forth by a few, while everyone else tries to focus on the game.

Unfortunately, this was not the case.

You see, a spherical member of team B decided that enough was enough, and that this faggotry was not going to continue on his watch. So does this mean he tells the offending member to shut the hell up and play the game?

Of course not.

He picks up a keyboard and hurls it across the room; an action so shocking that some players actually manage to lose focus on the game, if only for an instant. (fat man throw stuff = very scary)

Now, there was no casualties this time, but had that individual thrown the keyboard in a different direction, or picked up a monitor instead of keyboard, the results could have been much more catastrophic.

There is lesson somewhere in here kids, but I'm much too scarred by this incident to figure it out.

The Intellectual Mavericks

It has come to light that many remain ignorant of the grand and expansive history that is the religion of Chung.
And while I work furiously to remedy that problem, another issue has also come to light.

This post is to address the great travesty that is the raging ignorance surrounding Westdale Programming Team A's incredibly awesome title

The Intellectual Mavericks.

Like this. Times a billion. Then raised to the power of Chung.
I'm not going to elaborate on what an intellectual is since everyone here should know what an intellectual is; for those who don't, how are you even reading this you illiterate fuck?

Anyway, the real issue here is regarding the meaning of Maverick; a word of which a painfully large amount of individuals do not comprehend properly.

Now some of you might tell me: "Maverick is easy to define, it just refers to cattle that hasn't been branded!"
In which case congratulations, you have managed to look up Maverick on Wikipedia and click the first result.
This does not, however, make you any less of an ignorant dumbass.

Wikipedia is the number one information source for intellectuals to use. Unfortunately, it is also the number one information source for dumbasses to abuse.
The true definition of Maverick as it pertains to The Intellectual Mavericks is this one:

Mavericks are a breed of individual that is in essence a dissenter. A Maverick is a lone individual that stands apart from his associates.

Still confused? That's fine, I have no idea what that means either; to better explain how the Intellectual Mavericks differed from mere mortals, I will take you to the birth place of the Intellectual Mavericks. The board-wide ECOO programming contest.

There was no slow, meteoric rise for the Intellectual Mavericks, from the moment of our birth, it was evident that we were going to be a force to be reckoned with.

As the Intellectual Mavericks, we stood out among everyone else present; our force was so great the competition had to be held underground as to shield the rest of the world from us; our presence was so immense that by the end of the competition a mini-solar system had formed around us (full disclosure: our group did also have Chung in it); By the end of the competition, we had so thoroughly roflstomped our opponents that it was no surprise that even the survivors decided to take up permanent residence at the local cemetery.

You may think it was cruel of us to so thoroughly humiliate our opponents, but you must understand that this was Westdale's triumphant return into the world of programming, and in our immaturity we were unable to suppress our great power.
For the past years, the programming champions of the board did not even think of Westdale; indeed to them we did not even exist.
Even in our infancy, we knew what we had to do.
We Mavericks had a legacy to uphold, and not only that we had to make everyone remember the overwhelming force of Westdale's programmers. The ones to bring the great legacy of Westdale programming back into the forefront of the present was us. The Intellectual Mavericks.

And such is the meaning behind our title. We are a rag-tag team of individuals; of free-thinking loners who have joined together under the banner of greed and boredom; our action as a newborn entity was to revive a forgotten legacy, and in the future we may very well end up controlling the world; after which we will sell it for a profit to our alien overlords.

Yo Starcraft 2, I'm real happy for you and I'ma let you finish, but Starcraft Brood War had one of the best overlords of all time. of ALL TIME.

I know many of you think you can say that because Mavericks are suppose to be loners, we cannot really call ourselves Mavericks because we're a group and the makes it an oxymoron.

Little do you know however, that we are fucking Mavericks and we transcend such petty semantics.
Fucking rebels, thats who we are. So until you become truly enlightened, just be quiet and watch the Intellectual Mavericks do they magic.

And you wanted a big black coke right STFU?

"We need to go deeper"

Monday, April 4th was a momentous day for Westdale's programming team.

We achieved that day, what no one else was able to achieve.

Victory.

The scores are irrelevant; as are the details. All that matters is that a four man crew overcame all their opponents to seize victory.

Blazing through the start, with our resident prodigy finishing the first program in 10 minutes.
The next 2 hours of the 3 hour contest would involve me and Chung pretending to be useful, while Jack and STFU took turns being frustratedface at the lone computer we were permitted to use.

With 30 minutes left, our group had fallen to 5th place, and morale was low.
Then Jack finally finished the 3rd program he had been working on; our group excitedly called over the judges to grade the program, only to discover that it did not work!

Taking the input files from the judges, Jack went about fixing his program while the rest of us sat back and tried in a futile attempt to make sense of what the hell code Jack has actually written.

Still in utter confusion, Jack fixes his program and it is finally graded; the points are added to our total and we see that we have only moved up ONE place, being exactly 1 point under the 3rd place team.

Time passes; me and Chung continue to do nothing, Jack stands up and makes everyone feel short, and STFU is furiously raging at some bug in his program that he is unable to fix.

Time slowly runs out.
STFU stares at his code.

No sounds emanate from our table except the occasional "lol".

The critical moment approaches; STFU continues to work on the program.
Overcome by frustration STFU exclaims "WE NEED TO GO DEEPER!"

A single "lol" is allowed for this moment, but no more as the program must be finished.

One minute remains; the atmosphere is so heavy, Chung can't even get up to grab food anymore.
In a last ditch attempt to solve the problem, STFU types in a random line of code.
Run.
It works.

"LOL"

The judge marks down the time. 1:00pm. The exact moment the contest ends.

Suck it Westmount.

Edit: Our team name was the Intellectual Mavericks. Be jellies.
